A weekend of Cocoa Daisy Lifts and Inspiration

I was lucky enough to start off my week by chatting with one of the Design Team Members about a challenge that needed a little inspiration boost. Lisa posted the challenge with Cocoa Daisy and not only used my idea but used one of my layouts that I made during the Cocoa Daisy Midway Fall Crop.

Later in the week Lisa also posted the Fall "Lift me Up" challenge and had so many daisies wanting to play this time she made teams... and the first team to complete wins. Well those of you who know me know how much I like a good race! I was selected to go first for team Pink, I was handed my assignment and started Team Pink hot off the line.... we are currently still in the lead :)
I cant post my layout this week but will when its posted on the Cocoa Daisy site.

That jumpstarted a good week of scrapbooking for me, did the "Lift me Up" LO Thursday night, then worked on the Cocoa Daisy November Sketch Challenge Friday night. This will be a framed gift for my friend Danine who made me, my 2 sisters and mom Vintage Aprons out of my Great Grandmothers  linens.

I managed to also spend some time Saturday night and Sunday in the loft :) These were inspired by all the great layouts in the Cocoa Daisy gallery right now!

Cocoa Daisy Midway Fall Crop

I really enjoyed the playing along, taking the classes and the challenges over at the Cocoa Daisy crop. Sean and the boys let me spend alot of time in my loft the last 2 weekends and here is all the challenges that I participated in....

Challenge #2 was a technique challenge with Guest Designer Danielle Flanders, Chevrons are still a current trend in scrapbooking - this was a challenge to use them on a layout, Danielle uses a square punch and then cuts the square in half to make her chevrons!

I used my photo corner punch and a sketch that I found on Pinterest!

Challenge #3 was a Music Inspired Challenge - Choose an album cover for inspiration, use the artwork, title or lyrics on your LO, you must also use a title from a song as a title for your LO.

I selected Shania Twain's UP album cover... because it was white, simple & clean - and because our wedding video was to "Forever and for Always"... but if you read the journalling it was about the song that I remember being played while those photos were taken by the wedding photographer :)

Challenge #5 - A Sketch Challenge - I love using sketches when I scrapbook... I knew exactly what photo I was using when I saw this sketch!

The circle rings represent the holes in the ice (for ice fishing) I used embossing powder to make the rings with a versamark pen, then used Mica (from the CD store) that I bought quite sometime ago and had never tried... but Christine has some in there and it will come in handy for Christmas and Winter embellishments :) The background is a really old piece of My minds eye paper that worked perfectly because it looks like fishing net!

Challenge #11 - ATC Cards - I have never made these but have always loved seeing these little pieces of art made by other scrapbookers

I used my Websters Pages stash for this one! Made one for my friend Danine and one for Sean to give Lena at the end of their little holiday to Greece.

Challenge #12 was a color palette challenge, Christine selected 5 Palettes to choose from...

Challenge #13 was a technique challenge - you needed to grab a brayer some ink and make a circle star burst.... I chose some photos from a holiday that I have been wanting to get on paper for quite some time!

I was also inspired by the show's table menu!

Challenge #14 was to make a mess on your page!

Challenge #15 Round and Round challenge - for this challenge we were supposed to use as many circles as possible!
I also used a Basic Grey Sketch and paper for this one... and a few more photos from our night at the Cirque on the NCL Epic - Fun!

Thanks for looking at all my Cocoa Daisy inspired layouts!

October Sketch with Cocoa Daisy

This was so fun to document.
We started a new Christmas tradition when we moved in 2010. Barney, the family polar bear, was placed on the wall in the family room.... when mom & dad Ivens moved to Saskatchewan they felt it was time to let Barney have a new home.... so Sean and I were the new caretakers of the Ivens family Polar Bear :). We had him cleaned and he needed a little dental work as well as a manicure... lol. Once that was all completed we were also in the midst of a move to a new home.... and so the story goes....

I used the Cocoa Daisy October Sketch as my inspiration for this special story.

Just for Fun!

This is one of the challenges that I look forward to participating each month over at Cocoa Daisy... sometimes there are little "twists" in the challenge but this month there wasn't... just to use my Aug and September CD kits.

http://www.cocoadaisy.com/blog/monthly-challenge/8469/just-for-fun-challenge-4/

Here is my entry! It sat on the table for almost 2 weeks... just too busy to get back to put the finishing touches and title on it until late last night....

I also did this one today... ran away from the kids and company for a little "me" time in the playroom!

Inspiration with Cocoa Daisy!

I love Cocoa Daisy. The daisies over there are so inspiring and the blog posts great articles and challenges, the chat room has lots to get involved in and it fun to read...

Here are a few of my pages inspired by them lately!

I created both of these pages for their August "Just for Fun" challenge.... but there was a little twist this month as it was a multiple photo layout, so I did the first layout and then realized I had to have more then 2 photos.... good for me though to get some of these photos off the pile and on the page!

Every month Cocoa Daisy also posts their monthly Sketch challenge which I always try and make time to participate in...

Here is what I came up with for the September Sketch

Lift Me Up with Cocoa Daisy!

This was such a fun challenge to participate in!
http://www.cocoadaisy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=20&t=8948

Lisa ran this challenge...
Her blog is fantastic inspiration for me :)
http://scrappyfairies.blogspot.ca/

Lisa needed 5 of us Cocoa Daisy Members to sign up.
She started with a sketch designed by Diana and then her LO using the sketch.
She emailed the first person on the list a photo of Diana's LO.

The first person will then lift the layout and then sent it back to Lisa. We had 48 hours to make our LO's and email her the photo.
Then Lisa would email it to the next person on the list.... and so on...
We couldn't show our work to anyone. It was to be kept secret until the end.

Sound like fun? It was... and so was the anticipation of waiting till everyone was done!

Here was Diana's sketch that started the Challenge:
Here was the layout that was sent to me to "lift"
And here was my layout!

Fun at the Farm

I spent last weekend at the farm with my parents as Sean and the kids were all away doing different activities for the weekend...
I could have stayed home and scrapbooked all weekend but decided a visit to my parents and a surprise visit to my sisters was a much more fun way to spend the weekend. My niece Kayla had her confirmation on Sunday and I walked into the church straight into her and my sister... they were so shocked! It was a great day, her confirmation celebration followed by a birthday party for both of my nieces.

I browsed thru some old pictures and decided to scrapbook my sisters confirmation for the occasion.... it was fun to see the girls laugh at their mom's 80's memory. I won't embarrass her further by posting the layout here but I did also develop a few old photos that my mom had of me when I was young!

Just for Fun Cocoa Daisy April Challenge

I look forward each month to receive a new box of goodies from Cocoa Daisy. They run a challenge each month called "Just for Fun" I haven't always had time to participate but  I have had more time to play since my hubby has been travelling a lot for work this past month.

Our best friends were awaiting the arrival of their twins.... they arrived healthy and perfect on April 12, 2012. Luckily they didn't have to spend much time in the hospital and were all home by day 10. For Sara's first Mother's Day I wanted to create something very special for her. I asked Sheldon to make sure he got a photo of that big belly before she burst! I even sent him a photo of just a ladies belly in front of a window wearing a white shirt. When he sent me the photo via email i was speechless.... and then I sent him about 5 very excited emails...

Sara lost her dad just before Christmas this year, we were all worried about her stress level as she was 5 months along at that time. She sent me an email the night before she went into the hospital telling me how she felt. I decided to put everything together for her on a 14x14 Canvas for their bedroom, giving it to her was certainly a highlight of my Mothers Day.

I also made a page for myself and submitted it for this Cocoa Daisy Challenge.

My Minds Eye Blog Challenge Layout

The first time I am participating in a Challenge on the MME Blog. I had some fun with the "Kraft Fun Day" papers and some of my Tattered Angel mists! Have had this photo sitting in the photo box for a number of years... so it was time to get it on a page and documented.

http://mymindseye.typepad.com/blog/2012/03/blog-challenge-33-layout.html

I used some MME packaging for the title of the page.... I was Lost & Found You.
